Ronin Araucto

Augustana College Water Polo

Defender | Seattle, WA

For Ronin Araucto, reaching the collegiate ranks meant making a massive geographic and competitive leap. Moving from Seattle, Washington, to Orange County, California, is one of the most challenging transitions a water polo player can make.

The level of play in SoCal is famously intense, and for an athlete coming from the Pacific Northwest, the "jump" can be overwhelming. Ronin knew that to succeed in this new environment, he needed more than just a pool to practice in. He needed a roadmap to navigate the culture, the competition, and the collegiate path.

"6-8 helped me navigate SoCal water polo and how to be confident in my abilities. It helped me hone my mind in the pool and outside of it, especially when it came to helping me get into college and decide what would fit for me."

HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT

What set the Academy apart for Ronin was the holistic approach to development. While traditional training environments focus almost exclusively on drills and conditioning, the Academy provided Ronin with a masterclass in the lifestyle of a high-performance athlete. From time management to the critical importance of nutrition and strength training, Ronin learned that success at the next level is built on the choices made outside the water as much as the plays made inside of it.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE

Through the 6-8 ecosystem, Ronin was able to build the confidence necessary to compete with the best in the world. The Academy provided the structure he needed to translate his skills into a collegiate opportunity, helping him find the right fit for his goals. By the time he committed to Augustana College, Ronin was not just a player from Seattle. He was a disciplined student-athlete with a professional mindset.
